2010 Chevy Camaro a.k.a Bumblebee

The all-new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro is a modern interpretation of the classic original, built on a modern, rear-drive platform. Like the 1960s car, the new Camaro will be offered in coupe and convertible body styles, with both V6 and V8 engines.

Three powertrains
will be offered initially, with the base Camaro fitted with a 300-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, and a six-speed automatic is optional with manual override feature. The significant base output bests the V6 in previous-generation Camaro by 100 horsepower.

The V8 is available in two flavors on the 2010 Camaro SS. The six-speed manual transmission is
teamed with a 422-horsepower, 6.2-liter LS3 V8. This engine first appeared in the 2008 Corvette and produces 408 lb.-ft. of torque. The six-speed automatic is paired with a new L99 V8 with 400 horsepower and 395 lb.-ft. of torque. The L99 features a cylinder deactivation system that allows the engine to run on just four cylinders under light loads, like coasting, to improve fuel economy.

Underneath, the Camaro features front and rear independent suspensions. Gone is the simpler solid rear axle that was common on previous muscle cars, including the Camaro. This more sophisticated arrangement, shared with the Pontiac G8, tends to provide better ride quality and handling. There are two suspension variations, the base suspension on LS and LT trims and the performance-tuned suspension on the SS.

Four-wheel disc brakes with ABS are fitted at each corner, with the SS boasting larger rotors and four-piston, Brembo calipers. Wheel sizes will r
ange from 18 to 20 inches. Electronic stability control is standard, with the SS featuring a Competitive/Sport mode programmed for performance driving.

Standard safety equipment includes front side and side curtain airbags.
Chevrolet returns to the muscle coupe segment for the first time since 2002.
